Also new at the Buttonwood this year is river front camping (they bought the campsight across the street). This means more shaded areas and easy access to the river to put in. Also a reminder, the picking last year was the best ever. So even if you don't want to float, come by for the picking on Friday or Saturday night.

I will be broadcasting my bluegrass radio show on 90.3 WXLV live from Grillbilly Hall at the AFBA festival Saturday August 2nd from 10AM to 1PM. Pine Mountain RR and The Wildwood Valley Boys will be stopping by to perform and probably 1 more national act. This is an invite for any and all Grillbilly pickers to also perform live on the radio show. You can organize a jam group like a typical night time jam at Grillbilly hall or have your band perform if you are in one. Anyone interested in performing please drop me a line and let me know so I can schedule time blocks for each group. I wanted to give Grillbillies first shot before I ask any other non-Grillbilly regional bands.

When you find that a friend has passed, if you are like me, you are at a loss for words. The sadness can be overwhelming of not being able to see that person again. But then you realize how blessed you are to have shared in their lives. Their smile, their laugh, their hugs and the sound of their voice will be a part of us for a life time. I just came back from Louise's funeral. I still can't believe it. Those of us that went to the funeral thought it would be fitting to have a memorial for her at Delaware Valley and we will also have a can there for contributions, which will be sent to the American Cancer Society, as per her families wishes.

In case some of you don't know in the Jewish religion we do not send flowers, but rather ask folks to make donation in memory of their loved one to a specific association. Her family is asking we make donation to:

We are so shocked to hear about Louise - I was thinking of her this week-end too - just like everyone else. Louise was one of the first Grillbillies' I met at the no-ski, ski week-end up in Tannersville about 10 years ago. Elaine took me to my first Grillbillie gathering where I met the people that today I call friends. May God be with her family. She will have many friends that have gone on before her to welcome her in to the eternal bluegrass festival in the sky. God Bless You Louise......

I have so many memories of my times and talks with Louise, more than I could possibly recount at this point. She was a wonderful person, very interesting and accepting. I remember talks that both made me laugh and think hard on things. She will live in my memory forever. "I need my four bottles of water before I go to bed!!!" is one of the many that come to mind.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the services, I had another passing over the weekend and I have committed to another friend for the same day.

I am very sad at the moment.

Somebody say it ain't so!!!! This woman was and is a remarkable example of what I want to be. She didn't sweat the small stuff, shrugged of stuff of unimportance and lived to play and be a part of the Grillbillie family. This news has set me back a ways, as with those of you who knew her. She was in my thoughts over the weekend, along with you Larry. My thoughts now drift to the craziness of my festival excursions at Gettysburg...there were many of those. We met Louise in the first Comer Festival. That's when Alissa and Julie first met. I think most of you have heard the story about Alissa and her attempt to suck her thumb in front of Julie. My point is we've known Louise since the birth of the Grillbillies. Louise has always been the observer, outside the perimeter looking in to make sure we're all okay. Louise watched our grillbillies kids grow up, never judged anybody, always so happy to be with ALL of us. Louise was a true, genuine, original Grillbillie. Can't say enough about her. We will miss you LOUISE...

WHEW!!!!!What an awsome weekend! Meat Fest was absolutely fabulous, the food was great! Thank you Mr and Mrs Banjovi! Thank you all responsible for my fabulous time. I was home and in my PJ's by 4:00pm and down and out for the count at 5...never saw another thing till 6am this morning. Now that's a great weekend!

On behalf of all of all the volunteers we welcome you to the 2008 O*A*T*S Bluegrass Festival and the hospitality of the Grillbillies. Grillbillie Hall is meant to be home base for performers, festival volunteers, and Grillbillies throughout the festival. We ask that all of you help keep the grounds policed, help with food contributions for breakfast and dinner, and most of all, grow the camaraderie of the festival!

Performers, festival volunteers and Grillbillies are welcome at Grillbillie Hall for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is served between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. while dinner is scheduled to start promptly at 6:30 p.m. We ask that you all have your prepared covered dish to Grillbillie Hall by 6:15 p.m. We also ask that bands, and runners for sound and the gate, be allowed to go through the line first.

Since we're not using golf carts to escort people in need to and from day parking, is there any possibility that the parking staff could be supplied with a couple hand trucks or wagons to help carry luggage and coolers to and from the stage as staff help is available? There's a lot of people that don't use handicap parking but still struggle with their belongings.

Just an idea to help extend GB hospitality!

Pete and I are going to the Smoked Country jam BG fest this weekend, and I need to know where to go from the exit 185 off 80 west, towards Loganton, I'm almost there...anyone out there got any suggestions? 10 x 20 TENT NEEDED FOR OATS

I am in need of a 10 x 20 tent for the children's activities. In order to increase kids' participation, we'd like to hold SOME of the activites closer to the stage area, probably behind the Grillbillie store. Still recovering from NEPA! WOW! NEPA is the most beautiful place I've ever been to for a bluegrass festival...it's a little Gettysburg matching beauty in the grounds. Maybe even moreso for the variety of trees, walking paths and the beautiful wide and semi-deep stream for a float trip and fishing! For those of you that missed it...it's a must do next year. Danny and Christa, you have a diamond in your hands and you did a heck of a job! Can't wait till next year! I believe NEPA is here to stay and will most likely double in size next year! Meanwhile, I'm busy unloading, washing and reloading for WG1!!! See you there!

Just wanted to let everyone know there's a new bluegrass jam on Sundays!

The Hilltop is a bar and grill that is re-opening at 115 Liberty Valley Rd in Danville. It's on 642 just 1.6 miles off of Route 80 Exit 224. Starting this Sunday we'll be holding a jam on the deck around 1pm. The deck faces the mountains and has a beautiful countryside view, has it's own bar and tables, and several horseshoe pits. This is all weather permitting - if the jam has to be moved inside, there is a stage and plenty of seating room inside as well.
